The Power of Gratitude for Families
Posted On 08/20/2008 21:58:50 by MsLindy_J

The power of gratitude for families can be more than just a ritual at the holidays.  It can be an ongoing spiritual discipline that is very powerful and contagious.  Teaching virtues is essential to character building within the family.  Gratitude is a wonderful virtue that needs to be expressed daily with sincerity and spontaneity.   There are authors who guide individuals into understanding how beneficial the simple act of gratitude is to their lives and to the lives of those around them.
I will gather a list of authors and add them to this blog.   Then when you wish to read further about the power of gratitude to transform- you will have some resources for you and your family.   Kindest Regards,    PS  I am grateful for blogging and this soulliving community.    Lindy    Here is the finding on my research for book titles     THANKS THE NEW SCIENCE of GRATITUDE CAN MAKE YOU HAPPIER by author and professor in positive psychology Robert EMMONS.   This is highly recommended.   I will give you some of the statistics:

What are the 3 key messages that you would like readers to take away from your book?

First, the practice of gratitude can increase happiness levels by around 25%. Second, this is not hard to achieve - a few hours writing a gratitude journal over 3 weeks can create an effect that lasts 6 months if not more. Third, that cultivating gratitude brings other health effects, such as longer and better quality sleep time.   I hope this will help all of us to grasp these facts and commit to a family gratitude journal.      I will continue to post more great books.

Great blog...an "attitude of gratitude" makes all the difference in the world in your life.  Focusing on the positive and acknowledging it is good medicine for body, mind and spirit.  Great post!
